Acts 4:1-22
Christians like to share success stories on how God was there to bless us. We expect good things to happen all the time, because God is for us. Well if the book of Acts ended in Chapter 3, that expectation might be justified. There was the descending of the Holy Spirit, Peter preached a stern sermon, three thousands were converted, and Peter healed a person who had never walked in his life. And people were praising God! The church seemed to be triumphant all the time.
But that is not how the book of Acts ends. In fact, as the gospel is preached, the opposition always springs up …
